We accept the IB Diploma for all undergraduate courses.
Requirements vary for each course. We typically require 35 or 36 points overall with specific grades at Higher Level (from 7,7,6 to 5,5,5 depending on course).
Many courses require specific subjects at Higher Level but will in some cases accept Standard Level subjects in their place.
Many of our science and technology degrees require Higher Level Maths. We accept either Mathematics: Analysis & Approaches or Mathematics: Applications & Interpretations for all courses except in Mathematics.
Many courses will accept Standard Level Mathematics: Analysis & Approaches in place of a Higher Level.
For courses not requiring Mathematics as a specific subject, any Higher or Standard Level in Mathematics meets our Maths requirements.
We accept grade 3 in any Higher or Standard Level English to meet our English language proficiency requirements on all courses.
As a university we have been a longstanding supporter of the IB, and IB students make up the second largest group among our undergraduates (after UK A level students).
We particularly value the breadth of experience you can gain in the IBDP, and we have also welcomed IBCP students for many years.
Our experience with IB students has shown IB study provides excellent preparation to succeed on our degrees.
If you are studying IB subjects as part of the IB Diploma, you will usually need to complete the full diploma programme to be considered.
If you do not follow the IBDP, we can consider stand-alone IB Higher Level Certificates either on their own or combined with other qualifications.
You will need to study the equivalent of at least three Higher Levels to be considered. If you are studying only three Higher Levels, we will also be looking for evidence of a high academic standard across a breadth of study through your wider school curriculum or additional qualifications.
Courses may require specific subjects.
We consider applicants studying the IBCP on a case-by-case basis based on the individual IB certificates and vocational qualifications you study within the programme.
We accept any IB Higher or Standard Level in English or Mathematics as meeting our essential GCSE requirements.
Some courses will require you to study one or more IB Higher Level Certificates in a specific subjects to be considered.
