Amherst College is a premier liberal arts college located in Amherst, MA, USA. Amherst College prepares students to make a difference in the world. Our financial aid program is among the most substantial in the nation, and our student body is among the most diverse. At Amherst, you are part of a lively, inquisitive, devoted community of students, faculty, staff, and alumni who find inspiration in one another and in the process of learning.
IBDP is used to fulfill the secondary school transcript requirement for the admission process at Amherst College. If a student has taken International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement or college courses during secondary school, we view this as significant evidence of academic accomplishment and preparation. In addition, some Amherst departments will allow a student to forego introductory level courses in areas in which rigorous work has already been completed. However, we do not accept such courses for credit or advanced standing.
No specific requirement.
The most competitive applicants from the IB curriculum usually complete the full IBDP program.
While there is no specific set of secondary school classes required for admission, most successful applicants have pursued the strongest program of study available at their secondary school—typically including four years of study in English, math, science, social studies and foreign language—and have achieved the highest levels of academic performance.
